  • Community Solar is a type of solar partnership that allows you to subscribe to projects in your electric utility, and receive savings on your electric bill with $0 up front costs.

  • You start by subscribing to the right number of panels based on your electricity use. As the panels generate power, you receive bill credits that lower your electric bill. Finally, you pay back a portion of the value to the solar farm owner.

  • Turquoise Trail Energy Solutions turns community solar subscription into a seamless process for businesses, answering all questions you may have while guiding you to only the best vendors and deals.

  • While the total amount saved will depend on the state/utility you are in, typical savings rates are around 10% your total electric bill annually.

  • Subscribers are not responsible for any upfront costs associated with construction. The only costs will be paying back a portion of the value delivered to your bill.

  • You’ll see bill credits on your utility bill that lower your electricity costs. After that, the solar farm will send you a separate simple monthly invoice for a portion of those credits in accordance with the payment structure outlined in your partnership agreement.

  • Determining how much solar to sign up for depends on a combination of:

    1) How much your facility spends on electricity?

    2) What state specific regulations are in place?

    3) How much energy is generated by a panel in that market?

Turquoise Trail Energy Solutions can guide you through this with ease to ensure your business signs up for the optimal amount to maximize savings and minimize risk.

  • Typically subscribers are not allowed to claim they use renewable energy by partnering with a solar farm as the Renewable Energy Credit (or REC) will go from the project to the utility.

However, if RECs are a key factor for your business, reach out to Turquoise Trail Energy Solutions to see what other solutions may be possible.

  • The availability and eligibility for a subscriber to participate in a community solar partnership is highly location specific. Review our stoplight image on the “What is Community Solar” page to learn more, or reach out to our team to discuss!

  • Turquoise Trail Energy Solutions is paid by the solar farm owners, not by businesses who sign up.
